i have been writing my chemistry professor rude emails and she finally emailed me back and "dear madam"-ed me. the nerve.

i have also decided to jump start my diet again. i have been a little slack on my food intake since jen was in town ... i used to eat a can of pears for lunch and a chicken club salad from jack in a box ... i looked it up and the salad alone is 300 calories. croutons are 50 calories and the light ranch dressing is 190 ... but i have two packets because one is too measly. blarg. i did not think it was so high in calories ... i mean for a salad ... not a delicious brisket meal ... mmm ... brisket.

any way, i've decided to now eat the side salad for dinner which is 60 calories and will only require one packet ... and of course don't forget the croutons! if i am still hungry i will eat my head.

why in the holy hell is a salad $7 when it is only leaves and sauce?! i went to la madeline everyone's meal was less than $7 (other than me) and was more hearty and delicious. i am jealous. i realized that at most restaurants, salads are as expensive or more expensive than a pasta dish or a burger. it is annoying.

i must get to studying my chemistry since i still have a lot of work to get done for tomorrow's lab. grrr.

i just had lunch with my dad. he came in and asked me if i wanted to have lunch with him so i did. i thought we were going to the utmb cafeteria but we ended up walking a couple of blocks to the sunflower bakery and cafe. it was really surprisingly spacious and it was painted yellow with blue accents. their decor was all blue and white china. it was really pretty. i wanted to get something greasy and yummy like a burger or some pasta but i ended up getting a chicken caesar salad again. it was not as good as cheddar's but it was still good. i also had (and probably shouldn't have had) strawberry lemonade that was fresh squeezed.

everyone who was there was either sick or really rich. all the women had big hard hard hair and all the men had boat shoes on. both sexes had really large hats on. there was also this old, plump woman with a white poof of hair who was eating with a skinny asian man who was in his thirties. she had a lot of leftovers which she put in a doggy bag to take home the two people shared a brownie for dessert. she tried to cut it in half but the brownie was too resistant so the man ended up doing it. then they start eating ...

man: what you call this?
woman: slightly louder and slower than necessary BROWNIE!
man: oh! this very good!

it was nice. he paid for lunch and then they left. i think she might of been part of his host family or something.
i actually really like it at the office in the the morning between the time that i get here and the time that everyone else gets here. i get to blog without guilt and i can do all my daily lab stuff without being self-conscious that i'm in the way.

went to cheddar's last night with parents and i ordered a chicken caesar pasta salad and when it came out of the kitchen, there was a brown paper towel underneath the chicken breast. it was pretty nasty. i saw it before i actually took a bite. anyway, i had it sent back and the manager deducted my meal from the check. the new salad was delicious but unfulfilling ... it was a salad ... i'm on a diet.

in other news, jignesh (the rancid shirt killer) is going to have a baby. i mean his wife is two months pregnant. i had to listen to a 20 minute oratory about his wife's cravings and how gallant he is to provide her with chocolate milk from starbuck's and seven layer taco bell meals at any time of the day. i actually don't think that her cravings could be that bad ... i think he is making it up so he can sound like a proud papa. i saw the sonogram ... it looks like a tadpole right now ... he promises to keep us updated. he has another sonogram appointment on monday.

also, the baby is expected to be born on my birthday.

maybe this means that he'll grow up and stop trying to screw up my experiments.

nothing else new now ... i'll write later.
