dear body, 

i am really not satisfied with your recent performance. it just seems like nobody is doing their job. tongue, you are not doing a great job scanning the food before letting it go down throat. i mean you really should have caught that fish bone at lunch. it is still stuck in throat and he is really not happy. he is gagging all over the place and that fish bone is not budging. tongue, this was NOT your a-game. 

gums, teeth, and mouth, i think you guys should really stop kidding around now. i mean it was ok a week ago but this is really too much. you guys should really be on the mend already. the rest of the body really needs some solid food. you are really annoying brain with all these headaches that you are sending her way and tongue is especially not happy about the medicine taste that you guys think is so hilarious to spew. 

sinus cavities, i really hope you guys are not getting acquainted with the wrong crew. i think you guys are headed down a rough patch and you better make a sharp u-turn immediately. i think an infection of any kind will get you in a whole lot of trouble that i will not forget anytime soon. 

all i am saying is that we are all about to go back to school and i know we would all really like it if we could all get along and work together for once. i know we all hate getting up in the middle of the night for medication so if you all could just GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, it would be wonderful.

last night i started on my toast plushy project and i found it very difficult. making the faces were easy but making the bodies were hard because i had to sew in multiple dimensions. so, i think i am going to revise my plan and do a toast plushy that does not have thick crust ... and i am going to see about making some totes.

also, jen found this girl on etsy.com that already makes all the things that i want to make ... like the dessert jewelry. grr. there's no real reason to do it myself now. i think i may do it anyway once i get back to austin where i can bake clay and stuff without someone watching me constantly.

i have a test on sunday. i still have one chapter to read and i am having trouble with one set of homework. the chemistry professor still hasn't posted grades yet and i am worried. she claims that she never gets my emails so i'm worried that she never gets my assignments that i email to her. i hate chemistry. i wish i could quit.

nothing really new has happened since the last post except that last night i was on facebook creeping and i started watching this video posted by this girl from ut ... the video was titled "why i'll be hotter than you at 45." i watched it a lot and it made me increasingly unsettled. i don't think i can post the video so i wanted to write a transcript of it to share with everyone ... but i couldn't listen to it so many times. i think everyone who reads this blog has already been summoned to watch the video anyway ... but here are my chief complaints about her video. let me just say that i am probably more critical of her than necessary ...

she assumes that she is already hotter than anyone watching the video. she has weird eyebrows that start in the middle of her brow bone and has a weird arch. she has a HUGE five finger forehead ... i suppose this would have made her attractive in medieval times ... also her nostrils are constantly flaring. her reasons that she enumerates of why she will be hotter than me at 45 is that (1) she wears spf 70 sunscreen, (2) she has "size b tits" and (3) she is tall ... also she adds in that she has a searing wit and a generally good personality. my comments to her list ... sunscreen is the reason you are pasty and look like death's ass, you only praise your "size b tits" because you wish you had bigger ones, and ... yes, you are tall ... but you are also not proportional. also i should say that her lips do this weird thing when she talks ... it's like one side of her mouth has stronger muscles than her other side which makes her lip always curl in an unappetizing manner.

Family fights Galveston med school for man's body parts

AUSTIN — Years after a man donated his body to science, his family is fighting with a Galveston medical school for the remains still left.

The family of Rolia Whitinger, of New Braunfels, wants to bury the World War II veteran at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

"He was a WWII veteran and deserves to be buried as he is," said the man's son, John Whitinger. "I want them to leave him alone."

But the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston said it would return the remains — his head, shoulders, arms and knees — only if the family agreed to have them cremated. State Anatomical Board rules require the body parts' cremation, the school said.

Rolia Whitinger, who died in 2001 at age 85, donated his body for medical research. His family was among those who requested the remains after the body was used for scientific research or for teaching medical students, said UTMB spokeswoman Marsha Canright.

The school informed the Whitingers in June 2002 that Whitinger's ashes would be arriving soon.
But the following month, the school sent a letter saying it wouldn't be sending the ashes after all. UTMB officials had discovered the ashes of78 donors had been commingled.

An investigation of the willed body program revealed that an employee had sold body parts and mixed the ashes of cremated bodies, and that records were in disarray. The medical school fired the employee, Allen Tyler Jr., and the willed body program was shut down in 2002.

Several lawsuits were filed against UTMB, including one by the Whitingers. But as a state institution, the school is protected from lawsuits unless the Legislature approves them.
Resolutions by state lawmakers filed in 2005 and 2007 to allow the lawsuits by the Whitingers and the other families faltered.

Last year, the family learned from UTMB officials that they had found Whitinger's head, shoulders, arms and knees.

"It was shocking," said Annabelle Whitinger, his widow. "It was horrible. It was like receiving the news that the dead hadn't died and now they had."

Annabelle Whitinger said she wonders why UTMB took so long to discover the remains and tell the family about them.

"They cremated everything and they commingled everything, and five years later, they say, 'We found his head, shoulders and his knees,' "she said. "I said, 'Where did you find this, in a fishing box?' "

Chuck Johnstone, associate vice president and chief legal officer for the school, said officials wanted to first conduct DNA tests to confirm the remains were Rolia Whitinger's.
Last month, the medical school offered to send the remains to a funeral home, which was expected to do the cremation. But an agreement required the family to stop "disparaging UTMB" and release the school from any claims or demands for what happened in the willed body program.

"UTMB has been profoundly apologetic for everything that went on in the willed body program," Johnstone said. "Sometimes you have an employee who does bad things. ... Whipping UTMB is not going to change that."

The family says they were angered by the offer and remain adamant about preserving the body parts, in case more are found.
