i have figured out my life! for now at least. i will not pursue med school anymore ... even though i think i did really well on my finals and passed my pre - med classes this semester. i am going to drop my planned pre - med courses for next semester and will finish up my psychology degree this coming semester. so, i will be able to graduate this spring ... i mean i have to talk to my adviser just to make sure but she said that i only had a little more to go and with the pre - med stuff out of the way, i think i am in line to graduate. but i may stay for a summer session to get some credits that i need for a career ...

i have decided to be a teacher. i know it has been my fall back plan forever but the more i think about it, the better the job seems ... the only real problem is that i am not certified yet and i want to start working soon after i graduate and i am not willing to go into uteach at ut or some other university program.

i found an alternative certification program affiliated with the austin independent school district and they have really reasonable requirements to apply and they make it so that you can work and get certified at the same time with night and weekend courses.

i wanted to be an elementary school teacher because the time that i spent in elementary is my favorite period of time (except time with jordan when i have no work to do) but, it is a lot easier to find a job as a specialized math or science teacher than a job in early development. so, i looked up all the requirements and the subject that i am pretty qualified to teach (by aisd standards) is biology.

to be a biology teacher you have to have 24 semester hours of undergrad biology. i have 17 right now with my minor (you are only required to have 12) so i have to rack up 7 more hours. this probably means that i will stay for a summer session to fulfill the bio requirements and then graduate in the summer of 2009.

oh wait, i am entirely qualified to teach french because i have over the 24 hours needed right now. haha ... me teach french.

i am hoping that the program that i found doesn't only have one timeline. if they do, i will just work in the summer and go back to ut in the fall of 2009 and graduate in the winter.
