let me just preface this post by saying that i am wearing the oxford hoodie that my dad got me this summer and it is shedding fleece specks on to my black wife beater underneath. balls.
ok so i will blog about the acl weekend that i just had.
friday:
i got out of class and i went back to my place to fix the straps on the dress that i wanted to wear. i did a really good job and but it was really hard because i was trying to make a halter dress into a cross dress. anyway, you have to sew the straps at an angle so they lay flat on your back. anyhoo ... at 12 om when jordan got off from class, he had to charge his iphone so i had more time to get ready. i brought the balenciaga fake that jen gave me last weekend. it was awesome looking. we ended up going to chipotle for lunch because we didn't want to spend a ton on festival food. after, we caught a city bus to take us to the shuttle that would take us to the festival. it took about an hour to get to zilker. anyway, we saw jakob dylan, gogol bordello, jenny lewis and the eli young band. jakob dylan was probably the best because he played a few wallflowers songs. jenny lewis didn't play any rilo kiley songs ... it sucked because that's all she's good for. we left really early and there was no line for the shuttle. on the city bus a woman tapped me and jordan and told us that we were "voted next to get married" and "not to worry." it was nice but weird.
saturday:
jordan cooked jambalaya for brakfast/lunch and then me and jordan got all ready to go to acl and the ut football game. we packed our stuff and headed to the stadium. we get to the gate and they told us that we couldn't bring the backpack in. ugh. then they sent us to another gate and told us that they would check our backpack. that other gate said that it wasn't so. i threw a fit and then decided that we would rent a locker at the gym for the bag. i got a lemon ice (to placate me) during the game. we stayed for a quarter (in which we one touch down) and then headed out to go to acl. we walked to our church to take the bus right out front but there were a ton of hipsters and frat people at the stop and we didn't think we would be able to get on a the bus that stopped there so we walked down to the co-op stop (which is the stop right before the church) and as we were walking the bus pulled up. we were like 100 meters away so me and jordan started running. it was really good actually. i was wearing flip flops but they didn't get in my way at all. and as we were running a homeless woman yelled at us "do you guys have a bird and a fuck you to spare as you run to catch the bus?!" it was funny. we caught the bus just in time and jordan was really impressed with me because i ran (something i never do). we were on the bus and it was so full that it didn't even stop at the church stop. we saw erykah badu because i remembered liking her when i was younger but it turned out to be bad. there were a ton of pot heads so it was really terrible. we also saw john fogerty, mgmt (only the one popular song), robert plant and allison krauss, and beck. we left early and when we got to the shuttle line, it was half a mile long if it was an inch. we ended up walking 3.1 miles back home across the lamar bridge over the lake and uphill. it was intense but on the way there were people giving away monster drinks and we took some and then the lady told us to take as many as we wanted so we filled up my backpack. the lady even handed us more but as we were doing so, a guy behind us said "hey, it's a sample, not a lifetime supply." it was cool though because we don't have to buy drinks for a while. and, on the way home jordan stole a milk crate for me. i've been looking for them at target and can't find any. when we were a block away from mlk, me and jordan decided to walk on this plush grass and as we were doing so, some guys rode by on the sidewalk and for some reason i felt compelled to say "don't mind us, we're just enjoying the grass." i didn't mean pot. it just came out that way.
sunday:
we walked to the festival but i borrowed jordan's compression shorts (similar to the tight bike shorts that i wore as a child) because my thighs were rubbed raw from walking the day before. we saw priscilla ahn, tristan prettyman (the main person i really wanted to see), against me!, blues travellers (the other act that i wanted to see), the raconteurs, gnarls barkley and the foo fighters. i was really tired. nothing notable comes to mind. but, i did take a nap during the foo fighters. i didn't mean to ... i laid down and i was out for like 45 minutes ... don't tell anyone. but, i was refreshed for the walk home.
there were annoying people but i will write about them later. inju
