so ... today i burned agarose and made a mess in the microwave. it was embarrassing. so i was trying to do a plaque forming assay and i had to make fresh agarose from scratch and i asked two people which solvent i was supposed to mix with the powdered agarose and they both told me the same thing and so i mixed it and microwaved it so that it would dissolve and five minutes later, i opened the microwave and the smell of bacon and rotten eggs came out and then they told me that the solvent was actually supposed to be water. WATER!

i had to clean out the microwave and redo the solution.
