i love long weekends. they are the best. this weekend was particularly good because i got to see jordan for about 10 hours. it was great.
we went to galveston and walked around the strand for a while and looked in all the tiny shops with stuff that nobody would ever need. he bought me this really cute pair of earrings with a turquoise stone in the center from a native american store that seemed to be new. when we were checking out, the old man checking us out took out the tiniest box to put the newly purchased earrings in ... it made the purchase extra special.
then we went to this candy/ice cream/espresso/smoothie store called la king's and we shared a milk shake and a lemonade. it was so cool because there were like 6 sections of the store that lined the walls that had everything anyone would ever want to indulge in and it was really old timey. the milkshake makers were mostly young black men in crisp white uniforms with a hat and the whole place just felt like it was frozen in time ... like the '50s.
after that we walked around a bit more and we watched this spray paint artist named joaquin who was stationed outside in the square by the fuddrucker's. he was not as good as the guy in austin on 6th street but he seemed to sell more. after he was done with the painting, he said that the one he did before and the current piece were already sold. his next three pieces were also sold. i was pretty surprised because nobody ever seemed to buy from the guy on 6th ...
anyhoo ... eventually we met my parents at fisherman's wharf for dinner which was delicious but overpriced. their rolls are delicious. at the table behind us there was a man who was about 55 with a woman and two small children. jordan thought the woman was the old man's oldest daughter (she looked about our age) but i was sure that they were married because of the position of the children around her. anyway, jordan was convinced when he saw her GIANT diamond ring. so .... ew.
after dinner we decided to go back to houston and see the new park that they built down town. the drive home was uneventful and a little sad because jordan had to go home soon. anyway the park is called discovery green which is a terrible name and it is right between the downtown hilton and the toyota center. it was really big and well lit. it had an awesome playground that was only for children 12 and under. there was a huge reflection pool and a lot of cafes. i used the restroom there and had to wipe with the toilet paper roll because there was no toilet paper in sight ... alas, nothing can be perfect.
while we were downtown, jordan wanted to show me the view from the top of the hilton. he stays there every once in a while when his family is in town for an astros game. the view was amazing. you can see the lit-up toyota sign that is on the roof of the toyota center and you can see for miles. it was a little foggy but it was nice. we stayed on the patio for a while on the loungers then he drive me back to my apartment and left for the night.
it was a great day. for the rest of the weekend, i laid in bed doing nothing.
i think i will see him again next weekend which will be good as well. we shall meet in the middle this time so it will be more fair.

this post was really good and confidence-building.
you seem to think higher of me when you aren't around me or talking to me.. which makes this blog all the more valuable to me!
